Bio

Born and raised in Covington County, I am a proud 1988 graduate of Pleasant Home School. I was a member of the Jr./Sr. Beta Clubs and a member of the Lady Eagles basketball team. While still in high school, I completed several college courses at Lurleen B. Wallace Junior College. After graduating from high school, I finished my general studies at Lurleen B. Wallace and then transferred to Troy State University where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education. I hold certifications in Early Childhood Education (Grades K-3), Elementary Education (Grades 1-6), and Middle School Math (Grades 4-8). I began my teaching career at Red Level School in the fall of 1992.  I taught at Red Level School for a total of 11 years. At the beginning of the 2004-2005 school year, I transferred to Pleasant Home School. I am in my 28th year in education

In 1988, I married Johnny Powell, also a native of Covington County, who worked in our family's farming/ranching business until his death from cancer in 2011.

In 2019, I married Randy Hildreth, retired Air Force, who owns his own lawn care business.

I have two sons. My older son, Jared, graduated with honors from Pleasant Home in 2007 and married in June of 2008. His wife, Hannah Chesteen, is from Opp and works as a dental hygienist with Dr. Jeff Worley in Opp. Jared earned a Associates Degree in Industrial Elecronics at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College and works for PowerSouth Energy. They have two sons, Carson and Colden.

My younger son, Kaleb, also graduated with honors from Pleasant Home School in 2012. Kaleb earned an Associates Degree at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in May 2014 and then tranferred to Troy University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education with a certification in Grades 6-12 Collaboartive Education in May 2017. Kaleb currently teaches special education at Florala High School where he also serves as assistant coach for football, girls' basketball, and softball.

I have two dogs, a Labrador Retriever named Dixie and a Shih-Tzu named Poppy.

When not teaching, I enjoy reading, listening to music, going to the beach, and spending time with my family.
