Announcements

We have a student teacher!

Parents and students,

I would like to remind you that we will have a student teacher in our classroom for the first half of the school year. Mrs. Emily Harrell is completing her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and will be joining our class to practice and learn alongside us. Thank you for your prompt reply to her permission request to utilize video recording in the classroom during the lessons that she will teach.

Welcome to Second Grade!

I am very happy to have your child in my classroom. I believe that by all of us working together we can make this a very successful year. You are encouraged to contact me any time that you have a question concerning your child. I am available to meet with you from 10:15 to 10:45 daily. I will keep you informed by sending home a weekly sampling of your child’s work and a homework/behavior sheet (Eagle Express) that will include daily assignments, your child’s behavior, and announcements.

In order to maximize student learning, behavior expectations are necessary. It is important that you and your child know and understand my classroom behavior plan which I am attaching a copy for you to sign and return. If your child develops any difficulty conforming to the rules, I will notify you. As well, I hope that you will advise me if your child has a problem academically, socially, or emotionally. Should your child become discouraged about school, please communicate with me so that we can determine the cause of the problem.

So as to eliminate stressful dismissal procedures at the end of the day, I will adhere to the office procedures of dismissing students. Students will be placed on their normal bus every afternoon, unless a note signed by the parent is sent to school with the student. Parents can also call the office to communicate the need of riding a different bus or being a car rider. A student verbally communicating this to me will not be accepted.

I consider it a great honor and privilege to be your child’s teacher this year and look forward to a successful year.

Sincerely,

 Mrs. Hawkins

Second Grade Teacher.
